NATCHITOCHES — After a flurry of interest in the two weeks prior to the NFL Draft, Northwestern State linebacker Isaiah “Ike” Greenhouse didn’t get picked in the seven rounds that wrapped up Saturday afternoon, but he was quickly snapped up as a free agent signee by the Houston Texans.

Greenhouse was announced as a fullback by the Texans, who like other NFL teams were impressed with his special teams performances in his final two seasons with the Demons. The 6-2, 240-pound Marksville product, a four-year letterwinner for NSU, was so explosive on kickoff coverage units that opponents directed two and three players to attempt to contain him.

“I’ve been a special teams coach since day one, and in my 22 seasons of coaching, I’ve never seen a player just destroy kickoff return teams like Ike did for us,” said Demons’ head coach Bradley Dale Peveto. “He’s a one-man wrecking crew. More important, he is a great person, nobody outworks him, and he is athletic so that switching to offense is definitely within his capabilities at the next level.”
