Contestants sought for barbeque competition June 4-5

Natchitoches, LA – The Natchitoches Area Jaycees is now accepting participant applications for the Cookin’ on the Cane BBQ Festival to be held Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5, 2010.

This is the first time that this International Barbeque Cookers Association (IBCA) Competition is coming to Natchitoches.  Previous competitions have been held in Texas, Arizona, California and other cities in Louisiana.

The organization is searching for all professional or amateur cookers who think that they make the best BBQ around.  Participants must provide all equipment and supplies and no pre-cooking or marinating is allowed. Entry fee is $150.  

There will also be a Kids BBQ Chicken Competition open to children ages 5-16.  Entry fee is $25 and all children must be supervised by an adult.

Entries will be judged by a panel of professional cooks and prizes will be awarded to the winners in each category.  Registration is on a first come first serve basis and space is limited.  Entry deadline is May 20, 2010.

Festival activities include live entertainment, food vendors, children activities and more on the downtown riverbank.
