State Board of Nursing approves nursing program at BPCC

How does another nursing program in Shreveport/Bossier where Northwestern State already has nation’s 4th largest nursing school, reflect Gov. Jindal’s commitment to reducing government spending and eliminating duplications?

Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) has received approval from the Louisiana State Board of Nursing to progress with plans for a new Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) on its campus in Bossier City, Louisiana.  The program comes from the expressed demand from area hospitals and from the availability of potential students requesting the program.

The purpose of the program is to train Associate Degree Registered Nurses and move them into the workforce as quickly as possible.

For that reason, Chancellor Jim Henderson applauds the role that the College will play in addressing the need for registered nurses.

“BPCC is helping to solve a critical workforce need by creating a program that expands access to a traditionally underserved population. Through use of technology and innovative scheduling, those who have previously faced barriers will be able to realize the dream of becoming a registered nurse,” Henderson said.
