Gov. Bobby Jindal will veto any new congressional map that doesn’t include two northern Louisiana districts anchored by Shreveport and Monroe, a Jindal spokesman said April 6th.

The Senate rejected a bill Tuesday by Sen. Neil Riser that would keep two vertical northern Louisiana districts and instead passed a by Sen. Lydia Jackson, D-Shreveport, that would create a single horizontal Interstate 20 district that includes Shreveport and Monroe.

A House passed plan does include two vertical northern Louisiana districts.

Jindal has consistently said he supports two vertical northern Louisiana districts and has lobbied lawmakers to pass such a map.

Jindal spokesman Kyle Plotkin told The News-Star this morning that the governor would veto any plan that doesn’t meet that criteria
