BATON ROUGE — Louisiana State Police will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday in an effort to help local residents rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Medications may be brought for disposal between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday to the nearest State Police troop location. This service is free and anonymous and is an opportunity for those who have accumulated unwanted or unused prescription drugs to safely dispose of them.

Police say medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion and misuse.
