Tax elections will be on ballots Saturday, April 30, in four Central Louisiana parishes.

Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the affected voting precincts in Beauregard, Evangeline, Rapides and Vernon parishes.

No candidate elections will be held, only tax referendums.

The only election to be held in Rapides Parish is a 6.14-mill, 10-year property tax renewal for the Ward 9 Recreation District.

The tax brings in about $400,000 a year. The funds are used for acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and/or operating the recreational facilities of the district.

Voters in Beauregard Parish will decide on parishwide Police Jury Proposition No. 1 tax of 1.18 mills for 10 years; a parishwide Police Jury Proposition No. 2 tax renewal of 7.44 mills for 10 years; and a parishwide School Board school district tax continuation of 8.77 mills for 10 years.

Evangeline Parish ballots include a parishwide Police Jury tax renewal of 5.21 mills for 15 years; and a town of Mamou 1-cent sales tax renewal for 25 years.

Voters in Vernon Parish will decide on 13 tax referendums.

Parishwide property tax renewal elections in Vernon, all for 10 years, are for the Law Enforcement District, 7.92 mills; Police Jury Proposition No. 1, 7.92 mills; Police Jury Proposition No. 2, 5.94 mills; Police Jury Proposition No. 3, 5.84 mills; and Police Jury Proposition No. 4, 2.26 mills.

Other Vernon elections, all 10-year renewal referendums, include Road District No. 1 Proposition No. 1, 5.27 mills; Road District No. 1 Proposition No. 2, 2.09 mills; Road District No. 3, Proposition No. 1, 11.45 mills; Road District No. 3, Proposition No. 2, 4.59 mills; Road District No. 4, Proposition No. 1, 5.60 mills; and Road District No. 4, Proposition No. 2, 2.25 mills.

Rosepine voters are being asked to renew a 1-cent sales tax and approve a half-cent sales tax, both for 40 years. The 1-cent tax would be used for the sewer system while the half-cent tax would go for streets, public utilities, fire protection, water, sewer system, economic development activities, public works projects and operating expenses.
