NATCHITOCHES — Louisiana’s Department of Agriculture and Forestry says Tropical Storm Lee has kept it from getting a full picture of damage from a wildfire in Natchitoches Parish.

Spokesman Sam Irwin says the department plans a flight over the site as soon as weather allows. He tells The Associated Press that probably won’t be until Tuesday or Wednesday.

The fire destroyed 10 homes on Friday. It was contained on Saturday.

Department Secretary Mike Strain says five U.S. Forest Service helicopters dropped water on the blaze.

One of the houses that burned down belonged to Angel Quick and her family. Quick says her husband had lived there for 54 years. Their 12-year-old daughter, Baily Quick, tells The Town Talk ( ) that she’s glad her dog and horses were saved.
