BATON ROUGE. (AP) — Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal has picked up two Democratic opponents for his re-election bid, both with little financing to challenge a governor with a multimillion-dollar campaign warchest.

Special education teacher Tara Hollis officially qualified for the race Wednesday, Sept. 7.

A political novice, Hollis has been traveling the state pitching herself to voters and trying to drum up support with an Internet-based campaign effort.

Also qualifying for the governor’s race was Cary Deaton, making his fourth bid for elected office after unsuccessful runs for U.S. Senate, U.S. House and attorney general.

Democratic Party leaders tried to woo a bigger-name candidate with fundraising prowess to the race, but haven’t been able to attract anyone.

Jindal also has three opponents without party affiliation: Leonard “Lenny” Bollingham from Baton Rouge, Ron Ceasar of Opelousas, and Robert “Bob” Lang Jr. of Natchitoches.

Qualifying for the Oct. 22 election continues through Thursday.
